From Monday, May 15 – May 19, the Ewing Gallery will host its final exhibition of the 2022/23 academic year. Initiated by the Ewing’s Director Emeritus Sam Yates over 30 years ago, the Honors Exhibition recognizes outstanding students graduating from The University of Tennessee’s School of Art and College of Architecture and Design.
Hannah Overton, a 2016 UT alumna, majored in English Literature but took as many art classes as she could fit in her schedule. “Creativity has always been one of the most important parts of my life,” she says. As a kid, she would split her time equally between reading and writing, making art, and doing theater. She took photos with disposable cameras, used Microsoft Paint and Windows Movie Maker to create stop-motion videos, and spent a lot of time sketching.

Ruchi Singh is an interdisciplinary artist from India. She likes to complement her artworks with a piece of writing.
Timothy Hiles, associate professor of art history, joined the faculty of the School of Art in 1991 and for the last two decades has taught a popular course on the history of photography. Over the years, his research interests have also turned in this direction, most recently to the intersection between disability studies and art history.
