Alex Stern has lived and worked in Los Angeles. He received his BFA in Studio Art from the University ofAlexander Stern Colorado at Boulder and his MFA in Painting from Boston University. He was awarded the Kahn Prize and the Joseph Ablow Memorial Painting Prize from Boston University in 2020. In the same year, he was featured in New American Paintings. In 2021 he was awarded residencies at MASS MoCA and CalArts in collaboration with Hauser & Wirth.
Stacy Kranitz was born in Kentucky and currently lives in the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Tennessee. She will be lecturing in Knoxville on Tuesday, November 14, at 5 PM in Room 109 of the Art + Architecture building and the following day she will be spending time with students in classes and studios.

Stacey Robinson, MFA, (Sept/Oct shows) was born in Albany, NY, and is an Associate Professor of Graphic Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The influence of science fiction, Black liberation politics, and comic books fuel Stacey’s multimedia practice.
Ericka Walker is a School of Art printmaking alumna from the University of Tennessee (MFA ’10). She will receive the College of Arts and Sciences 2023 Alumni of Promise Award on September 29, 2023. Walker, who attended the University of Tennessee after completing her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, lives in Nova Scotia, Canada, where she is an Associate Professor at NSCAD University.
Lauren Cardenas is an Assistant Professor at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Her current body of work asks the viewer to question the connotations of everyday mundane objects. She is investigating her bifurcated Mexican American identity as a subject matter.
Michelle Grabner (b. 1962, Oshkosh, WI) received her MA in Art History and BFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, and an MFA in Art Theory and Practice from Northwestern University.
