A Message from the Director

Welcome to the School of Art website. I hope you will find yourself returning often to learn more about the school and our various events and activities—from innovative exhibitions in our galleries to engaging lectures by visiting artists and scholars.

The UT School of Art has a national reputation of excellence. US News & World Report ranks our MFA program 22nd among public universities across the country, and our graduate program in printmaking is ranked 4th nationally, from a total of some 200 programs. These rankings are significant, but we are especially proud of the many accomplishments of our students, faculty, and alumni, who have contributed to USA Today’s recent ranking of Knoxville as having the fourth-best arts district in the nation in 2023.

We invite you to find out more about the School of Art by attending an exhibition or lecture, scheduling a personal tour, or visiting us on Instagram and Facebook.

—Christopher McNulty, Director, School of Art
