Funding Supports Visiting Artists, Scholarships

July 20, 2026

Art professors and visiting artists pose for a photo.

The UT School of Art enriches the lives of students and the Rocky Top family through transformative experiential instruction, innovative artistic and cinematic practice, and groundbreaking art historical research.

Your gifts help build our programs and fund visiting artists and scholars. In the past year alone, they have helped fund the visits of:

  • Painter Noelle Africh, the spring 2025 artist in residence.
  • Printmakers Jillian Ross and Brendan Copestake, who conducted workshops with students and faculty for a week in spring 2026.
  • Visiting artists and scholars Pete Schulte, Xia Zhang, Mandy Cano Villalobos, Alex Paik, and Colette Fu.

Plus, in 2026 more than six dozen students received competitive awards, grants, and scholarships through the School of Art. These not only recognize students’ outstanding scholarly and creative achievements but also support study abroad, residencies, other travel, and project materials.

Help us light the way for our Volunteer community with your gift today!
