Downtown Gallery Hosts Joint Reception for College and School Boards
The School of Art Development Council and the College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Advisory Board gathered at the Downtown Gallery on Thursday, April 20, 2023, to celebrate the continuing work of the Downtown Gallery in support of the Arts in Knoxville. The visitors were greeted by UT School of Art Director, Christopher McNulty, Director and Curator of Galleries and Collections, Julie Lohnes, and UT Downtown Gallery Manager, Mike Berry.
The current gallery exhibition, Art Source 2023, showcases the artwork of art educators from Knox County. Every day, Knox County art teachers devote their time and energy to cultivating creativity and critical skills in their students. For more than a decade, Art Source, an exhibition dedicated to Knox County Schools art educators, has given these teachers an opportunity to nourish and showcase their own artistic talents. Please join us to celebrate the achievements of our art educators.
The purpose of the event was to expose a celebrate the work of the Downtown Gallery to a wider audience. The Dean’s Advisory Board (DAB) is a group of committed alumni and friends who promote excellence in the college. Members serve as advocates and advisors in support of the college’s students, faculty, staff, and administration. This event was an opportunity for them to meet the School of Art Development Council, who likewise serve to promote excellence at the school. Many of the attendees were pleased to personally observe the creative work that goes on at the Downtown Gallery.
