May 22, 2023

Delany Bal

The 2023 MFA Graduate Delany Bal will begin her post graduation summer teaching a blade smithing and knife making classes at Primeaux Goods, a local shop owned and operated by UTK Sculpture alumni John Phillips and Cameron Kite. from May 26 to May 28.

Read more about Delany on the Primeaux blog: https://primeaux.us/blogs/primeauxblog/unveiling-the-masterpieces-of-delany-bal-a-multifaceted-artist-pushing-boundaries

Delany Bal is an American sculptor focused on fusing digital fabrication with ancient artistic practices. Working to master this hybrid craft, she integrates digital technology with cast and fabricated metals, ceramics, woodworking, and experimental surface treatments.

After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Kentucky, she spent two years in Australia learning the art of bladesmithing, and teaching knifemaking and sculptural welding at Tharwa Valley Forge.

Her past sculptural work navigates subjects of war, deployment, and division. She continues expanding her subject matter, using carefully selected materials to create a personally influenced body of work.
