Milan is recognized world wide as the fashion and design capital of the world! It hosts some of the top fashion houses in the world including Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Valentino, Gucci, Marni, Prada, Versace to name a few. Museums and galleries boast some of the most important and well known collections in the world, including Leonardo Da Vinci’s The Last Supper and the Virgin of the Rocks.

We will immerse ourselves in the Italian culture, architecture, art and history of the city while keeping a keen eye on specific ways that the city can influence our creations. Instruction and guidance will be provided giving you the framework to creatively respond in drawings. Drawing experience is not necessary. The professor will provide you with the necessary tools to accomplish and body of work that both reflects the city and your artistic vision. Like scavengers, you will learn to find inspiration everywhere, from the patterns in the street, to the gothic architecture, to the window displays in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the world’s oldest shopping malls. Like Egon Schiele’s poem in one of his sketchbooks, we will take it all in, and then we will put it down on paper.

Look, think, respond. Milan is overflowing with art historical reference, trendy inspiration, fashion boutiques and contemporary art. Generally, you will look, then we’ll discuss, then we’ll make.
