Fast Track to Teaching
Interested in teaching art as a career? Students who earn a B.A. or B.F.A in Studio Art with a Minor in Art Education can go on to earn an MS in Art Education in just one year.
This professional post-baccalaureate program is designed to prepare students to work in diverse settings, to meet the needs of individual students, and to become leaders in the field of art education. Enrolled students complete one year of graduate coursework, while completing a year-long professional teaching internship at a local school, through UT’s College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences.
Once the degree requirements are met, students will earn a Master of Science in Teacher Education, Art Education Professional Internship Concentration and a teaching licensure that qualifies them to teach art to kindergarten through 12th grade students. Many alumni of this program have gone on to accept teaching positions at schools throughout Knox County and surrounding areas, helping to support young artists in their communities.
