Ruhee Maknojia

Ruhee Maknojia is a painter, installation artist, and animation artist living in Houston, Texas. Her conceptual research and art practice developed around finding symbolism and meaning in culturally-inherited textiles. She uses the process of hand painting patterns as a tool for myth-making and connecting mundane moments of contemporary life with rich layers of thought inspired from philosophy, history, and literature. Maknojia received her Master of Fine Arts from Columbia University in New York City and a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Her work has been exhibited at various institutions and galleries such as the Lenfest Center of the Arts in New York, Asia Society Texas, the Anya Tish Gallery in Houston, and more.
