Dani Levine
Dani Levine is an artist and educator living in Astoria, NY. Combining an alchemical practice of mixing pigments and binders with other found materials, Dani’s work celebrates imaginative thinking through investigations of craft and abstraction. Through her work, she investigates topics of chance, agency, and willfulness. Dani is an adjunct professor at Pratt Institute and Swarthmore College and regularly lectures at schools such as Tyler School of Art, Princeton, and Boston University. Her ongoing work as an educator aims to expand conversations about color as material and to link material history to narratives of trade, innovation, and sociocultural ideas. Dani received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from Yale School of Art. Her honors include exhibitions at SOLOWAY, The Alfred Museum, The Abrons Arts Center, Field Projects Gallery, and Fjord Space.
