Terry Burnette Memorial Residency/Internship Awards

Award available for 2016: $2000
Online Application

Eligibility:
All full-time graduate students and undergraduate majors in studio, design, and art history are eligible. To receive the award, students must be registered in a program at the School of Art in the semester following the residency/internship. This requirement can be waived in exceptional cases, but, due to UT’s payment procedures, exceptions will be limited. Undergraduate students must have already passed portfolio review to be considered.

Requirements:
Awards will be based on the significance and competitiveness of the residency/internship program and the potential benefit to the student’s artistic or academic development. Preference will be given to those who have been accepted to the residency/internship program. Should notification of acceptance arrive once the application deadline has passed, however, there may be additional funds available through the School of Art Director. The Scholarship Committee will rank any proposals submitted as pending for referral by the Director when designating funds as opportunities become available.

Upon completion of the residency/internship, a presentation—either a public presentation, an exhibit or another appropriate publication venue—will be required for the semester after the residency/internship is completed. Recipients are expected to work with the Scholarship Committee chair in early Fall to secure the date and ensure advertising of the event. Please provide an idea of how you see this residency/internship being shared with the School of Art community.
