2005 JURORS
GRAPHIC DESIGN JUROR :: Mo Lebowitz
Mo Lebowitz graduated from Maryland University, opening his own design office in 1966. His avocation toward letterpress evolved into his award-winning private press, The Antique Press. Lebowitz brings sophistcated wit and incisive concepts to his graphic design; his specialty is win packaging, promotion, and advertising. Lebowitz has won over 300 awards for his work and has served as a juror for every major graphics show in America and Canada.
ART HISTORY & ART CRITICISM JUROR:: Roger Rothman
Roger Rothman is currently an Assistant Professor of Art History at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. He recieved his Ph.D. from Columbia University, completing his dissertation, The Painting of Mere Appearance: Francis Picabia, Giorgio de Chirico, Rene Magritte, in May 2000. He is currently working on a book-length manuscript entitled, Spectacle and the Paramodern: Surrealist Painting and Urban Visual Culture.
STUDIO JURORS:: Robert Stackhouse and Carol Mickett
Stackhouse and Mickett share a home and studio in St. Petersburg, FL. Stackhouse is best known for his large-scale, architectural sculpture, paintings, and prints. His works are included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, The Museum of Contemporary Art, The Walker Art Center, and The Art Institute of Chicago, among many others.
Mickett's multi-disciplinary work focuses on the relationship between image and language. Some of her recent accomplishments include director of History Speaks, a video archive of the history of Kansas City, and producer-writer for Uniquely Kansas City, a five-part documentary for Kansas City Public Television. During the summer of 2004, Stackhouse and Mickett collaborated on a 140-ton Indiana Limestone Sculpture for the Michael Graves Artspark at the Indianapolis Art Center.
