Directions: From the Sheraton, the conference hotel go down Canal Street 2 blocks to Tchoupitoulas St. Take a right and proceed "uptown" 6 blocks to Girod Street. Lucy's is on the corner. Distance: less than half mile (9 minutes).

On the evening of Wednesday March 24th UT Printmaking Alumni gathered at the Garden of the Arts, Broad and South Street in downtown Philadelphia on the first night of the SGC conference. The event was hosted by Laurie Fitzpatrick (BFA 1987) who help found the garden. In total, over 15 alumni were able to attend. Below is a picture of the reunion near the beginning of the gathering.. On Wednesday March 25th over 15 UTK Printmaking Alumni gathered at Bar Louie in Chicago during the Southern Graphics Council Conference. The UTK Bookstore donated sketchbooks to all alumni attending. The earliest alumnus in attendance was Jamie Gannon (BFA 1987). Our next reunion will be held during the 2010 SGC Conference in March in Philadelphia. Below (left) is a picture of Bryan Baker and Shaurya Kumar and (right) a jam session lead by Koichi Yamamoto. The evening included orange kazoos for everyone and a rendition of "Rocky Top."

Our former MFA and BFA students are pursuing a variety of careers, as independent artists, college and university faculty, freelance and corporate designers, as printers and publishers, and as public school teachers.

One of our recent graduates Shaurya Kumar (MFA 2007) is an Assistant Professor of Art at the University of New Mexico. Kelley Walker (BFA 1995) was represented in the 2006 Whitney Biennial. Josh Smith (BFA 1998) is reviewed in the summer 2006 issue of Artforum. Mark Hosford (MFA 2001) is an Associate Professor of Art at Vanderbilt University and the juror of the 2006 Southern Printmaking Biennial at North Georgia College and State University.

Our current alumni spotlight is on Ericka Walker (MFA 2009), Assistant Professor at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. To read more, CLICK HERE.
