Students are required to present a signed advising card to the Art Office or the Registration Office, room 209, Student Services Building, before being allowed to register. This must be done before the beginning of the semester. Advising for each semester is done during the previous semester.
Students who are pre-portfolio should be advised by a professor in their intended area of concentration. Information about concentrations, including professors’ office hours, can be found in the Art Office.
Students may take ARTA361 without passing portfolio review, but need to have passed portfolio review to take ARTA461. Printmaking students are encouraged to take the portfolio review in 2D-Drawing to secure a place in upper division drawing classes.
Post-portfolio students must be advised by a professor in the student’s concentration.
It is the student’s responsibility to make an advising appointment.
When appearing for the advising appointment, the student should bring a current Degree Audit Report (DARS), a worksheet showing classes taken, and any other pertinent information.
2D-Printmaking Portfolio Review
Students submitting to the portfolio review should have passed Art History 172, 173 and 183, the studio core comprised of Art 101, Art 102 and Art 103, Drawing 211, as well as at least two 200 level printmaking courses. The portfolio review is conducted in person with the printmaking faculty in AA241. The reviews are scheduled for 30 minutes during the end of the semester, and take the form of a critique. Students should bring prints, and any other works which inform their artistic development. Students should also submit a copy of your Degree Audit Report (DARS), and are asked to submit a one-page statement of intent. Students are informed by mail if they have passed the review.
