Printmaking Graduate Students Selected for Chicago Exhibition

Abigail Lucien and Jessica Gatlin with their project Nature’s Intent™Lucien and Gatlin are currently in their second year of study in the MFA studio art (printmaking) program. Their collaborative project titled Nature’s Intent™, features an invented cosmetic company specializing in hair care products for an “acceptably natural woman.” Nature’s Intent™ investigates concepts of contemporary beauty standards, cultural identity and the history of media representation of women of color.

Founded in 1992, Woman Made Gallery cultivates, promotes and supports the work of female-identified artists by providing exhibition opportunities, professional development, and public programs that invite discussion about what feminism means today.

Lucien and Gatlin will attend the exhibition reception on January 22, 2016 from 6-8pm at Woman Made Gallery, 685 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, IL 60642.
