About The MFA
The 4D MFA Program offers advanced studies in time-based arts including video, film, performance, sound art, and installation as well as in cross discipline and theoretical subjects such as space, sequencing, and systems. We are looking for students who are excited about research and production in a program where innovation, experimentation, collaboration, and expanded ideas of art practice in the 21st century are promoted.
Applicants will be considered who possess a BFA or other undergraduate degrees in art or related disciplines and are willing to commit to a program of integrated studies in 4D. Depending on background and experience, applicants may be asked to do some proficiency coursework as part of their program.
Graduate application materials are screened in mid-January for admission for the following fall semester. 4D applicants will also be considered for available assistantships.
Applicants are encouraged to fully investigate the website. Application and portfolio information are on the SOA Graduate Study site http://art.utk.edu/grad and http://art.utk.edu/grad/resources.html.
Please contact the faculty representative or the Graduate Program Director if you have questions. Campus visitations are encouraged.
