ABOUT THE MFA

The essential mission of the graduate program in Media Arts involves the concept that being a media artist today requires individuals to be creatively capable and conversant with all media based technology. Students are encouraged to combine and integrate varieties of media related techniques and approaches as the mode of their artistic expression. This program also focuses on preparing students for a media based society in which divisions between categories are rapidly disappearing. Graduate study in Media Arts provides an opportunity to combine advanced learning and development in such areas as cinematography as art, photography, video art, sound art, time based installation and performance as well as other media related forms. Applicants will be considered who possess a BFA or other undergraduate degrees in art or other disciplines and are willing to commit to a program of integrated studies in Media Arts.
