ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS

Buck Ewing Graduate Scholarship Endowment (Account No. F010000304)
This endowment was established in 1977 to honor Buck Ewing, the department’s first head. This fund provides annual scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Art.

Mary Louise Seilaz Scholarship Endowment (Account No. F010000460)
Established by Aileen Seilaz in 1982, annual income from this endowment provides merit based scholarships to undergraduate art majors.

Terry Burnette Art Endowment (Account No. F010000740)
Established by Charlotte and Curtis Burnette in memory of their daughter Terry who graduated from the School of Art in 1983. Terry took classes in drawing, printmaking, sculpture, watercolors, graphics and advertising but it was in her senior year that she decided oil painting was the medium in which she would concentrate. This endowment provides an annual scholarship to a graduate student in art.

Dorothy N. Dille Art Endowment (Account No. F010000741)

This endowment, established in 1989 by Dr. E.O. Dille in memory of Dorothy N. Dille, provides funding for the annual Dorothy N. Dille Best of Show Award for the spring Student Art Competition. Income from this endowment is also used to support the Dorothy N. Dille Art Scholarships. The scholarships are available for undergraduate and graduate students and are used for art material and travel projects.

Arts Council Legacy Quasi-Endowment (Account No. F010001104)
Established by the Arts and Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville in 1994 in celebration of the UT bicentennial. This endowment provides annual grants to students with collaborative projects.

Mary Lynn Glustoff Memorial Endowment (Account No. F010001246)
Lynn Glustoff was principal secretary in the Department of Art for twenty years. She fought a courageous fifteen year battle with cancer, a battle that redefined the concept of strength. The disease that ultimately took her life on September 22, 1997, never deterred her from providing joy to and support for, those she loved. This endowment was established by her husband Errol Glustoff. Through this endowment, her family wishes to keep Lynn’s memory in perpetuity. The endowment provides annual scholarships to undergraduate and graduate art students.

Orin B. & Erma G. Graf Endowment for the Visual Arts (Account No. F010001567)
This endowment was established in 2001 by Orin B. and Erma G. Graf, life-long supporters of the University of Tennessee. Income from this endowment is used for scholarships for students majoring in the visual arts.

Eleanor Dean Swan Audigier Endowment (Account No. F010000012)
Established in 1932 by L.B. Audigier of Knoxville, Tennessee in memory of Eleanor Dean Swan Audigier. Income from this fund provides support to a wide range of activities including faculty and student research, travel, and equipment upgrade.

Charles I. and Blanche Barber Art Fund Endowment (Account No. F010000022)
This endowment was established in 1962 by Charles I. and Blanche Barber of Knoxville, Tennessee. Charles I. Barber was an architect who had a deep love for and appreciation of art. Income from this endowment is used to purchase books and art objects "for their use in teaching and for their value in creating and inspiring in students and the general public a proper appreciation of art."

Dale G. Cleaver Endowment for Art History (Account No. F010000813)
Established in 2000 by the late Dr. Dale Cleaver, Professor of Art History at the University of Tennessee. The income from this endowment is used to support Art History research and teaching.

Ellen McClung Berry Quasi-Endowment (Account No. F010000883)
To honor Mrs. Ellen McClung Berry’s life-long interest in art, this endowment was established in 1992 to provide professorships in the School of Art. Three Ellen McClung Berry Professors of Art are funded annually.

Kurka Faculty Award Endowment (Account No. F010000946)
Established in 1992 to honor Don Kurka, faculty emeritus and former department head, the endowment provides annual awards for faculty in the School of Art.

Ewing Gallery Quasi-Endowment (Account No. F010000971)
This endowment was established in 1994 to provide funds for broad-based support of Ewing Gallery. Income from this endowment has been used for awards, scholarships and fellowships, visiting artists, lectures and exhibitions, community outreach efforts and supplemental travels relating to the functions of the gallery.

Dale G. Cleaver Award Endowment (Account No. F010001636)
Established in 2000 by the late Dr. Dale Cleaver, Professor of Art History at the University of Tennessee. Income from this endowment provides annual awards for the Art History faculty in the School of Art.

Raoul and Marie Louis Verhagen Art Quasi-Endowment(Account No. F010001788)
Established in 2006 by the estate of Raoul and Marie Louis Verhagen. Income from this endowment provides funding for the Visiting Artist Program and various other School of Art programs.

Betsy Worden Endowment for Printmaking (Account No. F0100017)
Established in 2006 by Stuart Worden in memory of his wife Betsy Worden. Income from this endowment provides funding to support the students and faculty in the Printmaking Program in the School of Art.

Art Dept. Scholarships & Aid Fund (Account No. R01-1007-004)
This is a general scholarship fund to provide annual scholarships to art students.

Knoxville Watercolor Society Scholarship (Account No. R01-1007-006)
Established by the Knoxville Watercolor Society to provide an annual scholarship to a painting major.

William C. Kennedy Graphic Design Scholarship (Account No. R01-1007-007)
Established to honor Professor Emeritus William C. Kennedy, this fund provides annual scholarships to students in graphic design.

GKAC Scholarship in Graphic Design (Account No. R01-1007-037)
Established by the Greater Knoxville Advertising Club. This fund provides annual scholarships to students in graphic design.

Art Dept. Student Emergency Loan Fund (Account No. R01-1007-038)
This fund provides small short-term loans to students with emergency needs.

Beauford & Joseph Delaney Scholarship (Account No. R01-1007-054)
This scholarship fund was established in honor of Beauford and Joseph Delaney. Beauford and Joseph grew up in Knoxville before leaving for New York and France and becoming successful artists. Their work is in major collections in museums around the world. Joseph Delaney was an Artist-in residence at the University of Tennessee from 1986 until his death in 1991. He had a studio in the Art and Architecture Building and met with students on a regular basis. This fund provides scholarships to art students.

NON-SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS


School of Art Enrichment Fund (Account No. R01-1007-019)
This fund provides broad based support to a variety of activities in the School including research travel for faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, equipment upgrades, and visiting artist lectures and workshops.

Joseph Delaney Fund (Account No. R01-1007-090)
This fund is a result of a bequest from the prominent African American artist Joseph Delaney. Mr. Delaney grew up in Knoxville in the 1920s. He served as the Artist-in Residence in the School of Art from 1986 until his death in 1991. He maintained an active studio in the Art and Architecture Building and met with students on a regular basis. This fund is used for the care, restoration and preservation of the art works Mr. Delaney bequeathed to the Ewing Gallery.

School of Art-Photography Fund (Account No. R01-1007-009)
This fund provides support for equipment upgrades in the photography program.

Graphic Design Lecture Fund (Account No. R01-1007-026)
This fund provides support for workshops and lectures by visiting graphic designers.

Art Computer Enhanced Design Fund (Account No. R01-1007-034)
This fund provides support for equipment upgrades in the graphic design program

Knoxville Museum of Art Fund (Account No. R01-1007-058)
This fund provides support for collaborative projects between the School of Art and the Knoxville Museum of Art.
